A complex refurbishment of a Grade I Listed building, parts of which date back to the 13th Century. The three-story building was on Historic England’s ‘Heritage at Risk’ register, with significant concerns over its longevity if extensive restoration works were not undertaken.
Simpson helped restore and remodel the hall which now boasts four new townhouses and five luxury apartments, with private function rooms. It showcases many historic features and decorative panelled rooms, whilst successfully creating light, modern homes with extensive grounds for residents to enjoy. In addition, Ledston Hall is the first Grade I Listed building to receive Listed Building Consent to replace its metal-framed and leaded single-glazed windows with slimline, double-glazed windows.

The successful collaborative relationship between the client, contractors, architect, specialist trades and apprentices throughout the project, has resulted in the exceptional restoration of Ledston Hall, seeing its removal from the ‘at risk’ register, in addition to securing future heritage skills through apprentice training and shared learning.
